“Creativity… we grow out of it, or rather, we get educated out of it.” With those words by Sir Ken Robinson, the RCC juggernaut was off and running on another exciting and educational journey through the competitive world of indoor percussion / pageantry! And what a great season it was! Beginning with one of the largest turnouts in years at the auditions, this tremendously talented group of performers never stopped working, never stopped improving and the result was a hugely rewarding experience for all involved. Along the way, student performers, judges and audiences alike learned about Ted Talks, especially the February, 2006 one that still ranks as the ‘most viewed’ of them all.
Don’t miss out! Make your plans now to join Fantasia AND 53 other winter guards at the WGI Western Regional Championship, to be held at the Jenny Craig Pavilion at the University of San Diego. It all kicks off on Saturday morning, March 23 at 10am, with prelims running until nearly 8pm. Then, on Sunday, March 24th, the Finals contest will run 9am-5pm.

Spread the word! Some of the top winter drum lines in the nation will be competing this weekend at Cal-State University, San Bernardino – in their Coussoulis Arena. Saturday, March 23 – Prelims for the 54 groups will begin at 10am, with Finals being on Sunday, March 24th. More than 600 percussion ensembles will compete in 40 WGI Regionals across the United States and Europe this season, and you are LUCKY enough to have one in your backyard! PLUS… it’s a great venue for ‘seeing’ the action!

The RCC Marching Band will host their annual “Open House” on Thursday night, May 16 at 7pm in the HG101 band room – located on the lower level of the Riverside City College campus, attached to the Huntley Gym. This is your chance to come out and ‘hear all about it!’ Potential members and their parents, returning members and even undecided performers are ALL welcome to join in the excitement as the fall show for 2013 will be announced.
