You may not have recognized them without their own banner, but that was the Riverside City College Band – cast as part of the opening production for the 123rd Tournament of Roses Parade. Thousands of cheering spectators, TV cameras, dancers, confetti cannons, floats, live action ‘actors,’ the fly-over, great weather – and the RCC Band – all contributed to a wonderful opening to the 2012 event! Veteran KTLA commentator Bob Eubanks gushed, “that was the best opening number we’ve ever had!”

As the 220-member “Marching Tigers” can attest, it’s been a very exciting football season at RCC, supporting the team as they have gone 20-1 over the past two years – all since new coach Tom Craft took over! When you add in the 50+ members of the RCC Pep Squad & Dance Team, a new mascot (see photo) and factor in the strength & dominance of the team, Wheelock Stadium has become “the place to be” for sports!

It’s patriotic! It’s Broadway, jazz, rock, classical AND the circus coming to town – all rolled in to one as the RCC Band presents the 28th edition of the “Big Orange Classic” Field Show Tournament! Imagine… 36 high school marching bands from throughout the Southwest – AND the 220-member world-famous RCC “Marching Tigers” – all presenting their ’half-time’ shows for YOU! This Saturday, November 5, the college’s venerable Wheelock Stadium will vibrate with the sounds of drums & horns and audiences will be entertained by the some of the best groups of young performers in the exciting world of pageantry!
