RCC Winter Drum Line Opens 10th Anniversary Season with a win!

On a cold and rainy day, the talented performers from RCC loaded up their historic old equipment truck and headed out to Valencia HS, to open their historic tenth anniversary season. It’s hard to imagine that 9 competitive seasons have zoomed by, bringing with them a ton of awards, an incredible array of amazing players and a ‘who’s who’ of instructors AND life-long memories! Along the way, the RCC winter percussion program has earned 3 WGI Gold Medals and 8 SCPA Gold Medals, along with many silver medals.

RCC band rocks out to Depeche Mode in new documentary

After years of filming and delays, “The Posters Came from the Walls,” a documentary on one of the most influential pop bands of the cold war era, Depeche Mode, is now being screened around the world. And YES! The RCC band (Austin Powers, The Other Sister, American Pie: Band Camp) is featured in this film, which you can see in Los Angeles at the end of this month. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         Check out the Farmers Insurance Band, represented by the RCC Marching Tigers, as they help open the 2010 Tournament of Roses Parade with Captain Chesley B. Sullenberger III at the helm. Following the band is the Farmers Insurance Group’s float, Salute to the Bands. Farmers Insurance Group is the “Official Supporter of Rose Parade Bands.”

After numerous roles in dozens of movies and TV shows, it’s time for the 220-members of the RCC “Marching Tigers” to tackle a new one, namely accompanying the tallest float in the Tournament of Roses Parade, performing on international TV as the “Farmer’s Insurance Band!” Be sure to set your TiVo! You won’t want to miss these busy college entertainers as they escort Grand Marshal Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the “Hero on the Hudson,” and you’ll want to see the reunion of 8 of RCC’s best trumpets – escorting the theme float while playing brand new Herald Fanfare Trumpets, provided by Kanstul Instruments, Inc!
