You might know the name. After all, he has recorded with such diverse legends as Barbara Streisand, Luciano Pavarotti, Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson and Elton John. You might know him from his work with The Hellecasters. But what you might not know is that John Jorgenson, guitarist extraordinaire, attended Redlands High School and the University of Redlands! After working for two years with a local band called “Your Kinda’ People” and at Disneyland with the “Thunder Mountain Boys,” he got his break while performing with Chris Hillman and the Desert Rose Band. And, as they say, the rest is history.
What a great night it was, as the annual RCC Band “Open House” event attracted nearly 200 people to the small band room – HG101 – connected to the Huntley Gym! It’s hard to believe that 25 years have come and gone since the first-ever “Open House” helped kick-start the now-famous band. Potential members began to arrive at 6:30pm and by 7pm, anticipation was high as the assembled students and parents waited for the ‘down beat.
