RCC Drum Major selected as 2009-10 Student of Distinction for Music Department!

At the recent ‘end of the year’ Awards Ceremony in the Quadrangle at Riverside City College, Natalia Fesunoff was named the “Student of Distinction” for the RCC Music Department. It’s entirely appropriate that someone as busy and accomplished as Natalia ended with the ‘top prize’ from all of the music department nominees. She just graduated from the RCC Culinary Institute while maintaing a 3.4 GPA. What’s more amazing is that she did all of that while being the drum major of the world-renown RCC ”Marching TIgers” Band!

It certainly was a busy year for ‘that girl’ known as ‘Tasha!” She has quickly become the ‘face’ of the band, seen directing the 237 busy college entertainers at dozens of marching band performances throughout the Southland. A highlight of the season had to be leading the band down Colorado Blvd as RCC led off the 2011 Tournament of Roses Parade. In addition, due to her musical abilities AND her visibility, she was recently seen in an episode of the hit TV show “Glee.”

Looking ahead, “I’m really excited about the fall season,” Tasha said. “Performing in Lucas Oil Stadium in November for the Bands of America “Grand National Championships” AND leading the band in the New Year’s Day Parade in London – it’s gonna’ be great!” Don’t let this chance pass you by!
