The Western Corps Connection (co-hosted by the Yamato Youth Arts Association, Inc.) is one of the longest "consecutive" running drum & bugle corps shows west of the Mississippi River. Since 1980, drum & bugle corps from around the west coast and afar have come together in Riverside as part of the Drum Corps International Summer Music Games Tour.
The Western Corps Connection is held at the historic Wheelock Stadium on the lower campus of Riverside City College. In 2006, a new turf grass replaced the dirt and grass field and new lighting was also added. In 2007, a new 1,100 lot parking garage was completed to accommodate the growing campus and stadium events.
